Customer Services
The Customer Services Division is our largest division and is responsible for our employer and injured worker customers—the division is the face of WorkCover Queensland. We are responsible for:
- stakeholder relationships with our injured workers and employers as well as our key stakeholders, including medical practitioners, allied health providers, unions, employer associations and members of Parliament.
- statutory claims management including:
- paying compensation to workers (including loss of earnings, medical and associated expenses)
- coordinating a worker’s rehabilitation to ensure a timely and sustainable return to work outcome
- premium and policy stakeholder relationships
- assisting employers to understand the workers’ compensation system and how claims impact on their premium.
Our division is located throughout our network of customer service centres through Queensland and works closely with other divisions in WorkCover Queensland to deliver a high level of service to our clients.
Operations
The Operations division has four business areas – Operation Services, Claims Services, Claims Determination and Document Services. The Operations Services group incorporates Premium Services, New Business and the Contact Centre. Claims Services covers medical payments and claims registrations. The Document Services team incorporates the mailroom, scanning and records. The Claims Determination team assesses work related injury or illness claims and determines liability.
Common Law
The Common Law division is responsible for assessing and managing common law claims.
A worker can only claim for common law damages successfully if their injury was caused by their employer's breach of duty, breach of contract or negligence.
Business Solutions
The Business Solutions division provides WorkCover Queensland with the business and systems support services required to run the business. Business Solutions provides end-to-end services from analysis of business needs and the design and development of solutions, through to process change implementation and technical training of WorkCover Queensland people. There are five sections within Business Solutions: ICT Governance and Quality Assurance, Project and Program office, Production Support, Business Support and IT Architecture. WorkCover Queensland maintains and operates its own computer systems.
Finance
The Finance division has six business areas.
- Financial Services incorporates accounting services, management accounting, financial accounting, credit services and recoveries.
- Customer Compliance includes statutory, common law and premium compliance as well as factual and surveillance investigations
- Taxation and Quality Assurance manages WorkCover Queensland’s tax obligations and oversees the audit and quality assurance programme.
- Business Analysis includes management reporting, data and trend analysis and premium pricing.
- Financial Services Support includes systems accounting and systems testing.
- Property Services includes facilities administration of WorkCover Queensland’s customer service centres, fleet and purchasing.
Human Resources
This division provides support to all WorkCover Queensland divisions in the areas of recruitment and selection, performance management, training and development, remuneration, workplace health and safety, and employee relations. Human Resources supports the initiatives that build WorkCover Queensland’s cultural direction and focus.
Corporate Services
The Corporate Services Unit is responsible for performing board and executive secretariat functions and providing support to WorkCover Queensland’s senior executives. The small team of specialists provide strategic and policy advice to the Chairman and CEO, and coordinate corporate affairs, media and communication activities.
