Organisation structure

We are a government owned statutory authority. While we are a part of the Queensland Government, we operate as an independent commercial enterprise.

Where we fit into the Queensland Government

Our organisation structure

Our CEO reports to the board of directors, who in turn report to the Minister for Employment, Training and Industrial Relations.

Workplace Health and Safety

WorkCover in Queensland is slightly different to models in some other Australian states. Importantly in Queensland, we are responsible for workers’ compensation insurance and is governed by the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is a separate part of the Queensland Government, governed by the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995. Both WorkCover and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland report to the same Minister and consult with one another, but their responsibilities and operations are different and separate.
