Rights and responsibilities

The Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 requires that:

'Every employer must, for each worker employed by the employer, insure and remain insured, that is, be covered to the extent of accident insurance against injury sustained by the workers.'

To help employers understand their rights and responsibilities we strive to:

• educate business in Queensland in relation to their obligations regarding workers’ compensation insurance
• ensure existing policyholders are declaring the correct amount of wages, business activity, and WorkCover Industry Classification codes, and
• identify Queensland employers who do not have an existing policy.

WorkCover Queenland seek to ensure that there is a level playing field for all Queensland employers, which will result in fair premiums and proper benefits for workers.
