Consequences of not having cover

If you do not have an accident insurance policy, and your injured worker makes a claim, WorkCover Queensland can recover from you the entire cost of the claim plus a penalty of up to 50% of the cost of the claim, under section 57 (2)(b) of the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.

We may also recover the premium due for the uninsured period plus a penalty of up to 100% of that premium.

If you employ workers in Queensland, you must have a WorkCover Queensland accident insurance policy.
