Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) have released a new and interactive online program for the metals sector of the manufacturing industry aimed at helping these employers achieve a safe workplace.

A majority of workplace injuries in the manufacturing industry are contributed to the metals sector as workers are exposed to potential injury when lifting and/or moving items as well as working in a poorly designed workplace. WHSQ have developed Metal fabrication, Improving safety through layout and design to help employers modify the layout and design of a work area and manufacturing processes. Users can enter ‘The factory’, which is an interactive design that features information and topics relevant to the industry as well as photos and the ability to modify the design to make it safer.

By applying these practices to the actual workplace, employers can work towards minimising risks, preventing injuries and improve operational efficiencies. To find out how you can improve your workplace, prevent injuries and keep your premium down, enter the factory here.
