Reopen or aggravation claims

Reopening a claim

Sometimes even after your claim has closed and you've returned to work following an injury, you may experience ongoing symptoms associated with the original injury. When this happens we may reopen the claim if it is confirmed that your current symptoms are associated with your original injury.

Aggravation of an injury

Work can sometimes aggravate a previous work-related or non work-related injury. This is called an aggravation and you need to make a new claim for this injury. The claim will then go through the normal decision process for the aggravation.

WorkCover can only cover treatment and costs associated with the aggravation.
