Statutory claims

Who can apply for workers' compensation?

Anyone can apply for workers’ compensation benefits regardless of who or what caused the work-related injury.

You should lodge an application as soon as possible after the injury. For an application to be valid, it should be lodged within six months of seeing a doctor about the injury. If you lodge a claim more than 20 business days after first visiting a doctor, we may only pay compensation from 20 business days before the application was lodged. For example, if you see a doctor about your injury on 1 February but lodge a claim on 7 March, we may only pay compensation benefits from 7 February.
