Travel
WorkCover Queensland will pay the necessary and reasonable travelling expenses incurred by a worker for the injury for:
- obtaining medical treatment
- undertaking rehabilitation
- attending the Medical Assessment Tribunal
- undertaking an examination by a registered person
Travel is reimbursed according to what is the most reasonable method; usually public transport.
Ambulance
The cost of ambulance transportation provided by Queensland Ambulance Services (QAS) for workers’ compensation claimants in Queensland is covered by a grant administered by Q-COMP.
Royal flying doctor service
The Royal Flying Doctor Service will invoice WorkCover Queensland directly for services provided to injured workers.
What travel costs are not covered
Some travel expenses are not covered, such as:
- trips less than 20km, one way
- if there is a closer treatment provider, but the worker chooses to attend another further away.
