Covering interstate and overseas workers
Many businesses have workers who travel, work across borders or spend time overseas. We’re here to help you understand when you need Queensland workers’ compensation insurance and how to work out the right cover for each worker.

Support for when life gets tough
When life gets hard – whether with financial stress, health concerns or personal struggles – there’s help and support available.
Workers who work in more than one location
If someone works for you in more than one location, they only need to be insured in one place.
The rules differ depending on if they work either:
- across different Australian states and territories, or
- in Queensland and overseas.
Use the tests below to help you determine the right cover for your workers.
If you haven’t declared a worker’s wages
It’s also important to know that even if you haven’t declared a worker’s wages under your policy, we may still treat them as a worker if they meet Queensland’s criteria.
This means they may be entitled to compensation if they're injured at work.
