Recovery and return to work
Support for when life gets tough
When life gets hard – whether with financial stress, health concerns or personal struggles – there’s help and support available.
About the Recover at Work program
By becoming a host employer in our Recover at Work program, your business can help workers return to safe and meaningful work.
We pay the worker while they work for you, performing suitable duties tailored to their needs and recovery.
Benefits to businesses
Your business can benefit from an additional skilled worker while helping someone recover, rebuild work capacity and stay connected to the workforce.
Hosting a worker can also be an obligation-free way of trialling a new team member with new perspectives.
Employing a worker from your industry can help reduce claim costs in your industry.
As our premium rates are tied to industry claims and cost experience, you’ll make a positive contribution to bringing down costs.
Benefits to recovering workers
Workers who get back to work while recovering from an injury are more likely to return to full-time work.
They can also develop skills and get structure back in their lives.
It also may reduce disruption to family, work and social life and improve employment and financial security.
Program timeframes and agreements
The programs usually run for three to six weeks but can sometimes go for longer.
We will work with you on a legal document called a host deed. This explains how the program will work and roles and responsibilities of all parties.
This supports both you and the worker.
